Emil Orlik: Wagenzieher, Japan - Ricksha Pullers, Japan Plate/Image Size: 31.7 x 15.8 cm - (12½ x 6¼ inches) Sheet Size: 34.8 x 18.5 cm - (13¾ x 7¼ inches) signed and dated 1910 in pencil, monogramed and dated on the block and dedicated in pencil a wonderful impression of this woodcut, assumed to be the first work in this medium that Orlik completed when in Japan in 1900; he apparently retained the blocks and printed this example to give to a student in 1910 as the pencil inscription in the lower margin reads Schüler H. Zöller z. fr. Er |
